Southwest inaugurates seasonal route to Denver from Juan Santamaría International Airport.

  • The flight will be on Saturdays, leaving Denver at 7:00 a.m. and arriving at AIJS at 01:10 p.m. and returning the same day.

March 11, 2023.  From this Saturday, March 11, passengers transiting through the Juan Santamaría International Airport (AIJS) have a new option to travel to the city of Denver in the United States, thanks to the opening of the seasonal route inaugurated by Southwest Airlines.

The route will be in effect from March 11 until September 2, only on Saturdays and with an itinerary that will depart from Denver at 7:00 a.m. to Costa Rica, where it will arrive at 1:10 p.m.; and will return to the U.S. city the same day.

“Once again, the teamwork between AERIS, as airport manager, the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT) and the airline, has been essential to expand the travel offer to people who transit through the country’s main air terminal. We are grateful to Southwest, since the inauguration of this route comes at a key moment between both countries, since it is high season in Costa Rica and we are close to the mid-year school vacation period in the United States, where families seek destinations like ours for their trips, and at AIJS we are ready to be the gateway to pure life experiences”, said Erick Barboza, Director of Business Development of AERIS.

The inaugural flight arrived this Saturday at Juan Santamaría International Airport at 1:10 p.m. with 173 passengers.

This is the company’s third route to Juan Santamaria International Airport, complementing the services already provided to and from Baltimore (BWI) and Houston (HOU) also in the United States; and adds to the offer for passengers from the SJO where Costa Rica is connected to 35 destinations around the world through 25 international commercial airlines and two domestic airlines.
